The Community Foundation's board of trustees recently selected Si Johnson as chairperson and Frank Sardone as vice chairperson for 2014 and reappointed immediate past chairperson Barbara James to another five-year term as trustee.
Johnson, a retired Stryker Corporation executive, and Sardone, president and CEO of Bronson Healthcare Group, have both served on the board since 2011. James, who recently retired from James & Springgate, has served since 2006, the last five years as chairperson.
"Barbara's tenure as chairperson came during a critical time for our foundation" according to President/CEO Carrie Pickett-Erway. "She provided effective leadership for a CEO transition; the collaborative Lifeline Initiative with the United Way, which helped families struggling during difficult economic times meet immediate basic needs; and important developments such as the Upjohn Prizes Trust settlement and the gift of our future location from the Arcus Foundation. We're grateful for her leadership and continued service on the board, and look forward to having the continued leadership of Si and Frank in their new duties."
Other trustees include James Escamilla, owner of Byce & Associates; Ronda Stryker, community volunteer; Honorable Carolyn Williams, retired probate court judge; and Eileen Wilson-Oyelaran, president of Kalamazoo College. Non-trustee members of the board include Pickett-Erway as secretary-treasurer and Sue Bos, executive assistant to the President/CEO, as recording secretary.
