Dr. Xiaoan Li and Lucas Mansberger are the newest appointees to the Kalamazoo Community Foundation (KZCF) board of trustees. Their three-year term will begin in January 2023.

Dr. Xiaoan Li is a Senior Program Officer at the Fetzer Institute where he advances spiritual and moral development of youth in K-12 and higher education. Li has served on several local, national and international boards and steering committees. He brings a commitment to racial equity and healing. Since 2017, he has been a racial healing co-lead and practitioner with Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) Kalamazoo.

"I am deeply honored and cherish the opportunity to be able to serve on the Kalamazoo Community Foundation board," Li said. "Ever since moving here with my family 11 years ago, particularly as one of the TRHT racial healing lead practitioners, I have learned so much about Kalamazoo communities and the critical role KZCF has been and will continue to play in battling growing poverty and racism, separation, and polarization. I am committed my whole being to building a most inclusive and beloved community where I call home."

Lucas Mansberger is a Senior Advisor and Investment Strategist at Breakwater Capital, a financial and investment advisory firm that specializes in sustainable investing.

"It is a true honor to join the Board of Trustees and to contribute to the KZCF’s innovative work investing in grassroots initiatives and organizations in our community," Mansberger said. "I look forward to working hand-in-hand with the Foundation's staff, trustees, donors, and its many partners as we build a more equitable, resilient, and just Kalamazoo County.”

He is a current member of the KZCF Impact Investment Committee and played a lead role in developing KZCF's Socially Responsible Investment pool. He has served on a number of local boards helping to advance organizational Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts.

The newest appointments represent identities that will enhance board diversity. Community members aged 25-40 were encouraged to apply in addition to those with identities historically marginalized in American society. Li is the first Asian American to join the KZCF board of trustees.
